Tech Art
Created each of these pieces using Krita as a main art program.
Tree [Middle Piece]
(June 4, 2024)
This is a digital drawing I made outside of class where I was essentially just trying to draw “something”. There wasn’t much thought that went into specific techniques or color choices. It wasn’t until halfway through the drawing that I noticed what it looked like, a “tree”, and made the choice to try and emphasis the shape of the drawing. I then used one of the tools to mix the colors together to get more of a “flame-like” brightness to it. I then added a dark figure inside the bright colors to make it seem like someone or something was inside it. There wasn’t much forethought when I came into drawing this, but that was the intention. I didn’t plan on creating an elaborate work of art when I sat down to draw. My goal initially was to warm up or just do something, but what came out of it was an interesting piece.
Psyche [Left Piece]
(June 10, 2024)
Like my previous digital drawing, forethought was not something I considered when drawing this piece. Instead of using pens or brushes, I used tools designed to give a more chalk or crayon-like look when drawing the lines. This particular piece was designed to look chaotic and almost unorganized, but again, about halfway through, I noticed there was something interesting I could see with my erratic lines- a face. I emphasized the eyes and mouth of the face and then “colored in” the area around it using the same erratic style of line drawing. The end result we got was after touching up some of the lines by adding in new ones or erasing a few others. My hope with this piece is that it comes off as abstract rather than childish or unimaginative. Personally, I don’t think it would’ve come across as natural had I came in this with the intention of creating what we have now.
Lost [Right Piece]
(July 4, 2024)
I can’t say exactly what my mental state was when I drew this, but I don’t think I was feeling great when I drew this. As the pattern with most of my digital drawings outside of class, I didn’t know what it was that I wanted to create when I sat down to make this. I used mostly pencil and pen tools through this drawing. I think I was considering reversing the colors, making the background completely black while drawing with white colors, but I decided not to go with that in the end. I believe I was mainly testing out the quality and feel of the different tools within this piece as I was trying to get used to the drawing pad and the digital program I was using. I also can’t remember if I drew the middle figure first, or last, although I don’t believe that’s really relevant.
Lifetime
(June 28, 2024)
Like most of my digital art, there wasn’t much thought or direction I wanted to take as I drew this. For this piece I became fascinated with the darker shades of different colors and decided to make use with a few different shades and tools at my disposable at the time. I’m more than happy for anyone to see whatever they want to see within an abstract piece like this.
Chaos
(June 17, 2024)
My thought when drawing this particular piece was to make it as colorful and chaotic as I could. As this was a part of the first couple of projects of mine when concerning digital art, I took the time to also experiment with blending tools during this process. I’m happy with how this came out especially since, at the time I was still learning and bettering my understanding of digital art.
Something
(June 4, 2024)
This, I believe, was my first attempt at creating something digitally. This piece was very experimental and was designed with the intention to learn the program I was using. Most of the strokes in this piece was done with a variety of pen and pencil tools so I can familiarize myself with each of them. Overall, like the title implies, it’s “Something”.
